Dark Horse, the largest independent American comic book and manga publisher, has revealed that they are planning to release a comic that features the back-story of Ellie, the girl from The Last of Us, the upcoming third-person post-apocalyptic survival action-adventure game developed for the PlayStation 3 by Naughty Dog.
Naughty Dog, Inc. (previously known as Jam Software) is one of the leading American video game developers, which is based in Santa Monica, California.
Dark Horse also announced their plans of releasing an art book for The Last of Us.
The comic will be released as four issue miniseries, and will be named The Last of Us: American Dreams. The series will show the story of Ellie “who was brought up in a post-pandemic world, often been shuttled between the military orphanages within one of the few remaining quarantined areas and reconciled to the reality that soon as she is old enough, she will either have to join the army or will be left alone to fend by herself alone—until she finally meets another girl who is older and is resolute to the idea of finding a 3rd way out.”
American Dreams would explore “the initial steps” of Ellie that leads her to unite with Joel and will set the stage up for the storyline of The Last of Us.
The Last of Us: American Dreams is expected to hit the comic book stores in the Spring 2013.
