Destiny, the upcoming sci-fi MMO shooter game by Bungie Inc., the American video games developer that is presently located in Bellevue, Washington, United States, will not be released in 2013. This was announced via a press release by Activision, the publisher of the game, sent out yesterday. Activision made clear that Destiny would not be included in the 2013 outlook of Activision and that there should be no expectation or speculation of any different outcome. Bungie is currently on a 10 year publishing contract with Activision Blizzard.
On the other hand, the fiscal year of Activision also ends on the 31st of December, 2013. So the press release does not seem like a financial double speak either. On case this press release is the final decision, we will not see Destiny within 2013.
In addition, the latest press release also confirmed that that Destiny is being developed for, not only the PS3 computer entertainment system of Sony and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system of Microsoft, but also for other prospective gaming consoles, which most probably means the upcoming PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Yesterday, Bungie and Activision also unveiled the first trailer of Destiny with some details.
