SheepArcade editor's review: This is basically a match 3 game where the story opens with some miscreants desecrating the tomb of Queen Nefertiti and Akhenaten, preventing their spirits from enjoying eternal repose. It is up to you to recover the stolen artifacts and allow her eternal spirit to rise and be free. If you have played the earlier Luxor games, you would find the interface to be very familiar but for first timers, the game is all about eliminating all of the colored marbles before they roll to the end of the level. You do this by shooting your own marbles to the corresponding similarly hued marbles in the chain to make matches of three or more. A falcon winged shooter at the bottom of the screen fires orbs with a left mouse click. A right mouse click lets you swap the item that you pick up from your inventory. There are collectible power-ups after every third match and these help you get along with the levels as the going gets tougher ahead. Power-ups like area-clearing fireballs, time-slowing devices, crackling lightning bolds, clouds of vapor that paint multiple spheres a single shade – rain down from the sky are there in the game for you to gather. Apart from these there are bonuses at the end of each stage like jewels or ankh coins, power-up-improving performance upgrades, new shooters and alternate ball sets. Keep on collecting artifacts like the Eye of Horus, Cow of Hathor and Sphinx which help you prevent enemies from running away and lets you unlock puzzle games. When you play game there are a couple of variations to the basic game-play in the battle mode and a couple of other such interesting options. Overall an enjoyable among addictive games, though not very original, Luxor: Afterlife has the ability to grasp the gamer for hours. |
