Heroes of Kalevala editor's review

This type of game isn't all that new in the game world. Actually this combination of genres has showed itself very successful as is integrates two different games that can give a 'break' of each other giving you no time to feel bored at all and maximizes the pleasure feeling as it can get, but that all depends on the manufacture how did he combine these two genres, as we seen several of them and only few found their place in the ranks of casual games players. In this games case the manufacture made sure that it pumps up the game with enough tricks and surprises so you definitely never get bored. The story of the game is something that is not that used in the games as a theme as much as I know. The people who are suffering need somewhere else to go as they think the gods themselves have come down upon them, and brought a great drought upon the entire people. The leader of the village goes to see a shaman to see is there any solution to their great misfortunes, and the shaman told him that the only way of saving his people is to go to the lands of Kalevala. Kalevala is an epic poem and is one of the most significant works of Finnish literature. It begins with the Finnish creation myth and follows several characters and deities through the trials of life. After your people arrive at Kalevala their life starts over again and literally. They have to build everything from the beginning and that of course needs founds. So the Match 3 of the game starts and that is your way of income. A board is filling with pieces that must be moved into rows and columns of three or more, in the same style as classic match-3 game Bejeweled. Whenever a match is made, any piece involved that has a yellow tile behind it will cause the tile to turn blue. The challenge is to turn every yellow space into a blue space. But any match 3 fan knows it won’t be as easy it sounds, as the border-some would appears instantly if there isn’t some kind of trick to it. Special rules and additional tiles will appear to basically make your match 3 solving as tuff as it gets. The general point of every level is to make the field turn blue completely and to do that you will be using the well-known tile-swapping to do that. One of those obstacles that you will have to deal with is the crow that flies around all the time. The crow circles the perimeter of the playing field, burning the border and snatching gems that line the tiles. If she manages to fulfill its intention and remove every part that she is aiming to that means game over and replaying the level again. Later on, certain tiles will be locked, or contain ice and stone that must be destroyed before you can continue. But it is not all that bad, as there are a couple of power-ups that are there to help you deal with these situations. One of those power-ups you obtain when you match 4 or more and you get a bomb to blow up the yellow tiles. Another way of power-ups are the Kalevala heroes themselves that come to the rescue, but you have to first earn it so they can help you. You will have tiles on the board which after being matched unlock a power up in a form of one of the heroes. As there are multiple heroes that are multiple power-ups but they can be only used one a time. One of those power-ups is addition of the time to the counter, but the fact remains that you are doing all of this matching to supply yourself with enough amount of money so you can build up your village and the number of times you will be doing it is set in a very nice digit. There are 140 levels that are separated in five different villages taking care of any doubt about a game being too short. With the money you win you then start building structures in the village so that people have something to amuse them; buildings in which they will be living, and there are items to purchase just like that generally intended for decorations. After that upgrades will start popping out as the requirements of the people in the village will start to rise and you need to even the village with their needs. After that the villagers will start gathering around the building and start commenting about them. The graphics and the sound of the game were to expect to be on the level of gameplay. Hand drawn backgrounds are always there to give as the feeling of the hard work that has been put into the game and the most important thing to pleasure us with its beauty. Unfortunately the sound of the game has one flaw like many other game tracks. Some show great potential like this one but after some time it will start repeating itself only to become annoying in the end. The game has shown us it has improved every time it has been released, and so this release has given us enough to entertain us for hours. Enjoy!
