This is a very unusual game as the game description clearly states we are talking here about a hidden object game. Hidden object playing scenes are so rare in this game you will forgot about them at times. The game is based as match 3 games, so mostly you will be doing just that. When it comes to how good or exciting the game is, read the review and with the demo decide for yourself, because there will be a lot of split opinions on this one. As for the game play it is nice but I didn’t find anything ‘special’ as it is a combination of the two most represented genres on the market. The game is set in the Kingdom of Rosefall, as an ancient prophecy has begun fulfilling! An evil wizard called Balaak, is doing everything in his power to destroy the kingdom, and the only force that can stand up to him isn’t there… The Elementals, some sort of god-like creatures, are absent from the kingdom and the only person who can help the kingdom now is Princess Serena. She is the only one that can bring them back and bring back the kingdom to its old glory. She sets out on the journey of discovering and finding items that she needs to bring them back. The story is pretty shallow as is vaguely mentioned in the beginning of the game and sometimes through the gameplay. The game is divided into several chapters, each of which is bookended by a HOG stage. These stages have you finding pieces of objects and then figuring out where to put them once you’ve completed them. As in most of the HOG’s there are a couple of items you use for interface and other for collecting. Here is the same, as you will need some items to obtain other ones. The difficulty of the HOG scenes is pretty easy and finding an item that is hard to find is very unlikely, but just in case there is a hint system that recharges pretty fast. Like previously said HOG scenes are pretty rare and most of the time it will be matching 3 games. If you have played a couple of other match 3 games you will recognize this style of play too, as it is pretty similar to Fishdom games. Each grid features a number of colored tiles and the goal is to clear them away by matching objects on top of them. Once all that’s done you’ll then have to clear one additional single line of tiles in order to bring a piece of one of the coveted items to the bottom of the screen. What would be a match 3 game without obstacles to interfere and trying to slow down your progress? You will see that clearing these obstacles requires multiple matching above them, or you will need to break the chains with additional matching. There are also additional power ups that will help you in clearing difficult parts, but here they aren’t power ups than they are called spells, and they range from bombs that blow away obstacles and a flying phoenix that douses the screen with fire, the spells available are all very useful. The only problem but not so small that needs to be listed is the lack of variety in the game. Everything is done with the lack of extra something. Like I said on the beginning something ‘special’ is missing that will make it stand out in its own way at least a bit. The only thing that could be listed special in a way is the customization of the match 3 gameplay. There are a couple of models of the game that you can try out, and finding the right one for you will make your gameplay much easier. You can pick the grid type (rectangle or hexagon) and choose from four different styles of matching. Depending on what type of challenge are you use to it provides you with the one you want. All in all with about 200 stages, it will provide a gameplay, but what kind good or bad, it all depends on you and how you like it. For me it was a pretty standard game, not good not bad, standard! Try the demo, maybe you will like it more than I did.
