Introduction:
Like in many other stories and games Jules Verne and 20000 miles Under the Sea still has its public and manufactures that will use it as a background for creating similar games to that story. This game will probably attract the attention of people who love to enjoy the view you could have if only you were living in the sea and provide you with some great features that from my perspective weren’t used that much other games.
Gameplay:
The story here goes with one of our heroine, Carrie, as she got an old compass and as she opened it she was entrapped by the compass leaving only her ghost behind. The main protagonist in the game is Dianna, her sister, and after a while she finds out that her sister has gone missing. Before even she could come up with the rescue plan her sister shows up, but this time in a form of a ghost leaving your speechless to what could have happened to her and who could do such monstrous thing. A bit after that you find out that the one responsible for this is a very old man who happens to be the one possessing that compass and knows its secrets. Your assignment is to find the broken pieces of the compass all around the world which will then be able to free the body of your sister which is locked in another dimension. The old man has given you ten days to complete your search and find the lost treasure somewhere under the ocean. Ten days and ten locations are there to be searched and every location has 5 levels that need to be completed. This approach isn’t anything new in the hidden object genre, in fact it is a very common approach for this type of game, but what makes this game interesting is something else. This becomes very interesting when the swimming part of the game appears. What you need to do here is go for a little swim with the fishes and doing so will open a couple of quest that you need to finish. For example you need to do a photo shooting for the fishes by taking pictures of different types of fishes that appear. The more the often the fishes appears the lower the value is, but taking picture of those that appear rarely will get you to the goal of the challenge. But the fact remains that this is a hidden object game that has a lot of items that needs to found and even though the search for them isn’t difficult at all, there are items that are very hard to find and for finding them additional help is required! This help van be gotten through the hint system and with a help of different power-ups that are found in the game. But first let’s start with the hint system…The hint system is quite simple as the hints that you can use in the game are collected from the gameplay. The game has five levels that need to be completed per one location and every day in the game provides you with five hints. But those hints probably won’t be enough for most of the players so there are more ways of obtaining additional hints. One of the ways is through already mentioned fishes that appear in the game. There are standard fishes that you are using for the quest where you take their pictures like earlier mentioned, but these ones don’t come that often and when they do they are in a form of a question mark. The number of fishes in the game is about 30 of them, that is 30 different sorts of fishes. Since they are so rare to find there is a way for you to accelerate that process by feeding them for example and you will get additional swarm of fishes that will increase your chance of getting those hints. If you are getting annoyed by those fishes and want to continue the gameplay without being bothered by the fishes, there is a ‘horn’ you can blow, which will scare all of the fishes away. Even though the hints are very helpful there is another thing that is more helpful then the hints, and that is the power-ups or better yet the artifacts that you can find in the game. The artifacts have different abilities that can help you in the game, for example: Artifacts randomly appear after you find an object to give you special hints. The magic lamp artifact shines its brightest when you're close to the hidden objects. The treasure hunter artifact beeps like crazy when it reaches a hidden object. Drop old Flint's bomb on any place on the level, where it explodes and sends all found objects flying into the chest. Poseidon's Net is probably the most powerful artifact as the results are very efficient and you don’t have to do much for that. Just click to use it and it picks up a hidden object every time. Of course there are the mini-games that are standard equipment for a HOG and this one has four of them. Some of the mini-games include the infamous "find a pair" game where you find matching pairs based on memory and "Tags" requires swapping pieces to put a scene together. If you are not in the mood for playing a mini-game or having a problem with finish it, you can use one of your hints to skip through the mini-game.
Graphics and sound:
The music in the game isn’t exceptional. It’s all standard sound in the game like the sounds of the underwater world. The mini game that is based on sound puzzles will be the best example of the sound quality in the game, but will you like it depends on how you get along with this type of puzzle. The graphics of the game is some different, as the sounds for me were an average, but the graphics is on a whole new level. I simply loved the underwater surroundings and I enjoyed every little detail that characterized the game, and sincerely every player will enjoy it, when put together with those beautiful pictures you take from some of the fishes.
