Introduction:
I was having a hard time in figuring out what needs to be done here and written as I was thinking back I already reviewed a couple of these games so far with no that big of a difference and that is why I start like this. The premise of the game is quite known to a lot of players who have at least of couple of hidden object games behind them. Relations between a mother or a father and a daughter or a son finding themselves in danger is quite used theme especially if they have the family business running through their veins just like the parents. But correct me if I’m wrong as it is very likely possible that I am, but I haven’t heard about a game where the parent is looking for his/hers child during an expedition or some alien invasion. Now I exclude here games where the children are abducted, so to clarify I was thinking more on Indiana Joneses father looking for him…
Gameplay:
Anyway, Rita’s father is missing as he was on an archeological mission where he was trying to find the lost city of Zenadoo. But the time for finding him is very limited to a certain period as the volcano which is located on the island is in the final stage before the eruption. The challenges that are before her are made of all kinds of puzzles and riddles. You will need to solve and find the items in the temples, confront the creatures that are living on this island and provide materials for her escape. Rita is not alone on this island, as she is accompanied by two other members: Sebastian, the mechanic and Marbles, the monkey. Rita will be collecting a lot of things through the game, and a part of this search is to find the part for the repairing of the airplane. The other things that you find in the game are hard to describe, as you will be finding and collecting everything that comes your way. First off almost every item in the game has its own function and that will show itself sooner or later in the game. Most of the items that you collect in the game are mostly found lying around and somewhat concealed or adapted to the environment in which they are located. However not all of them are concealed that way, as you will have to solve a certain number of hidden object scenes and like the normal scenes, empty them to the last pick-able item. The items that you find will start to repeat themselves in multiple numbers and keep doubling in the inventory, but you will start to realize that you need double and more items as you will be using them through the game a couple of times. What I meant here is that there will be puzzles that will require of you to use your inventory to successfully complete an item, depending on its use. This isn’t anything new in the casual games world and making a flashlight using a battery and a light bulb is one of the obvious examples, but one of the rare ones like that. The puzzles that you do encounter are much more imaginative then the example before, as you need to figure out how to interact with the environment itself and therefore solve the much more difficult puzzles. Another sort of puzzles that you will encounter is the jigsaw puzzle, but there isn’t much you can do about a jigsaw puzzle. In this game however, they have done that part (not much, but you can see and notice the difference) and have implemented the nature and time exposure on the jigsaw tiles which happened overtime, and therefore are giving you much harder time to create the final picture which is different than the one you have, but not too much. The game had some nice features such as a map with locations with task markings. This made the backtracking a little easier than to click to every place again and again finding everything manually. Throughout the game you will be finding, besides the items, a certain number of coins which you will use to redeem them for rewards later in the game. The hint system is pretty generous, as it is standard for this type of game, and the random clicking is also punished.
Graphics and sound:
The graphics of the game follows the quality of the gameplay itself more or less. You will notice some poorly done parts of the game which turn up from time to time, but in general with a little more work on the details it could really be one of the standard high rated graphics. The only real plus in this part of the game is that you won’t see a battery in such a size it could supply power for an electrical car, to take a trip around the world. As for the rest of the features they were thinking on some small details like the resolution which is adaptable to a wide number of monitors, and the audio section is more or less blessed with some basic options that most of nowadays games don’t have.
