Royal Trouble editor's review

The royalty have always been a bit specific and sometimes even weird with their specific mentality. They mostly think so high of themself (they after all a royal family) and pretty much everything must be done the way they imagine it even though it is sometimes impossible to do such things. But what happens when you have two royalties put together in a dungeon? The only key to their freedom is something both of them couldn’t imagine of doing. The prince and the princess must team up and join forces to find a way to liberate themselves from the castle in which they are trapped in. Realizing that their destiny is bound to each other makes them even more stubborn to each other. With that the game begins to start its course towards achieving their goal of freeing the royalty. The story of the game goes around these two characters and their attempts to free themselves. At first they start literally hating each other and everything they do, they do it because they have to. As the game advances the narration explains a bit what happens through the game through dialog and a fully voiced storybook-like narration -- focuses quite a bit on their relationship and how they become infatuated with each other. In this point-and-click adventure everything is about finding the right items for your liberation. You will play both as Prince Nathaniel and Princess Loreen mostly individually. Switching between them is the key feature here as they are helping each other that way. Nathaniel has the brown inventory and Loreen blue inventory. This provides a nice dynamic, as you’ll often have to find items or solve puzzles in one area, which will then help the other character wherever they are. Nathaniel and Loreen’s prison escape is fraught with obstacles, created to stop them, but the game scheduled all of its traps, mini-games, items to find, items to interact or to look more closely in such a way, it will always keep you interested. The cursor will change as you hover over various hotspots: to a hand, when it's something you can pick up; to a gear, when it's something you can manipulate with another object; and to a magnifying glass, when it's something you can examine, perhaps for a clue, perhaps to zoom in to another view, perhaps just for a bit of flavor text. When you want to use the objects you have collected, you can do that by checking the inventory in the bottom of the screen, but you must check first if you have all the parts that you need to assemble the wanted item. As for the mini-games of the game, they aren’t something that you haven’t seen before, but they do their job pretty well. The mini-games aren’t that difficult at all. The difficulty slightly increases as the game progresses but like I said nothing too challenging. You can always skip the mini-games anytime you want but the reason for that will be found rarely, maybe with some players, or if you really don’t want to play them at all. But just in case you do get a bit confused about what to do next, the games hint system is made so that the confusing doesn’t stay longer then a click away on the hint button. The hint has multiple usages making the previous case solved quite easily and other ones too. Click on the book in the lower right whenever you need a nudge, and further clicking reveals additional information that you need until it takes you to your goal. As for the items you will be finding, this game gives exactly what you are looking for. There won’t be any space ducks lurking underneath the bed or in the closet, etc… Here you are dealing with a straightforward game which gives you items you need to find, and you will find them right there where they are supposed to be. For example if you are looking set of plates and other dishes, you will find them when you find the Chinese porcelain cabinet. There is however a thing that you should know about the puzzles in the game. There is no penalty for too much clicking and that kind of stuff, but however there is the matter of clicking outside the window of the puzzle during its play. You see if you do that, it will trigger automatically closing and resetting of the puzzle. This can be a good and a bad thing; depending on how well do you control your mouse. The game isn’t something special, especially for those who are searching for challenging games to rock their world. It is more of a fun relaxing game made for those who want to lean back and play the game in ‘peace and tranquility’. As for the graphics, they are the same as the game itself, nothing special that could be praised immensely, but rather something above the average graphics seen in other games. It is nicely done with few flaws, but nothing that could harm the game at all. All in all a game made for the beginners and those who like to relax.
