Safari Island Deluxe is another very well made adaptation of the mahjong tile genre, which introduces many great ideas and concepts that make this game a thoroughly enjoyable experience.  In addition, Safari Island Deluxe also brings an educational aspect to the game, by including many facts and figures about wildlife and animals, many of which we are familiar with, and so that are not so well known.  This is a game that can be played by the whole family, and has an excellent entertainment and educational value all packed into one.

There are three modes available for this game.  The Adventure mode takes around the whole of Safari Island, as you explore the various wildlife and environment of this lush and verdant island, full of surprises and excitement.  The Action mode has you racing against the clock to complete levels, and is a challenge for those who have mastered the game.  Additionally, there is a bonus game at regular intervals that will test the object spotting skills of any good computer gamer.  The 60 levels of animal mayhem never leaves a dull moment, and will have you guessing and thinking all the way.

The most outstanding element of game play in Safari Island Deluxe is the concept of taking pattern matching from simply two blocks to multiple blocks.  Unlike the traditional game play of mahjong tile matching games, players really have to take their thinking to a new level as they deal with tile matching in blocks of threes, fours, and even fives.  Furthermore, not all blocks match in identical ways, therefore the mental and lateral thinking abilities required for this game is ahead of other games in the same genre.

For a game that has been designed so well, it is a slight detraction that the sound and graphics are not as original and innovative as the game design and game play.  However, there are plenty of interesting sounds and noises to keep the children happy, and the upbeat theme music keeps the game rolling along smoothly.

Safari Island Deluxe is an adventure that is not to be missed.  For compelling and challenging game play, it is hard to go past this impressive effort that should sit very highly on any casual gamer’s must see destination.
