Introduction:
There isn't that much left in the casual world that could be called a valid theme for a complete game that is made to be rated in five stars, if the rest of the game is done equally good with a great theme. History has been totally exhausted with the different heroes, events and some ordinary man who impacted everything more than they were aware of. So as for some time, it is either replaying the already used themes, or creating new ones from your imagination. This one contains both of the factors as it isn’t from our history, but more from game history and its beginnings combined with a new idea to give it more characters, but what is more important to make it more funny.
Gameplay:
The story goes back, way back to our ancestors until the nowadays. Advanced life flew across the universe to Earth just to discover that their brethren chickens have been used as food for humans, or to be more accurate as one of the main sources of meat in the Earth. Infuriated by what they saw, they decide to repay the humans for every chicken burger they have eaten through the history, and they will do that with one single invasion. Humans put their faith into one single pilot to defend their right to live, but what is more important their right to eat chicken every day, and not to worry about chicken eating them! In the Eastern edition, the changes that have been made are the most noticeable in the graphics part of the game. Logically the story of the game has been adapted to the gameplay, and therefore the changes feature will amuse you even then the previous parts. To introduce you in the Easter edition is the Easter bunny who gives you his warm greeting from the chickens in form of Easter eggs. The bunny is so you can be introduced to what awaits you and to give you some practice if you haven’t played the game for a while. Now being new to the game means probably beginner or veteran game difficulty, depending on your skills. However if you have been “Bats” fanatic (if I recall correctly) then going into hard mode should be the choice for you. Those of you who have been there in the time when Intel Pentium 266 MHz processor was nowadays Intel i7 processor will probably recall playing this game. 2D graphics with bats flying around and falling onto you and ‘firing’ at you is a direct remainder to me with the Chicken Invaders. Like I said the bunny is the first, and when you get rid of him there will be music in the background that will announce your victory. After that starts the main event and that is frying chickens with your lasers and missiles as the food in the outer space is pretty much limited, so why not just make yourself a couple of chicken wings or would you rather be looking cooked human goulash. After you have shoot a couple of those chickens they will start leaving chicken burgers behind, chicken legs, coins, power-ups and some other bonuses. The gameplay itself is controlled in two ways. You can play either using the keyboard or using the mouse. If you are playing with the keyboard like I did, then the arrows are keys you will be using, Space will be normal fire and Enter for the missiles. All of this will give you a run for you money, but the real thing is when the chicken use their secret weapon, and that is the Yolk star. The Yolk Star is a hi-tech wonder from the chickens, which has everything and anything on it installed. I mentioned earlier that there will be some additional bonuses and power-ups in the game, but they won’t come that frequent. Matter of fact is the moment where you will receive the most bonuses and gold coins, and that is when you will be fighting against the Yolk Star. The number of threats here are increasingly greater then fighting normal chickens. If you get hit by an Easter egg you will survive, as you have some life force in you left. That can be replenished through those bonuses, but the Yolk Star has bigger weapons. As you progress through the game you will pass through 12 Star Systems, each carrying special medal that can be won.
Graphics and audio:
The games graphics is really something here as all of the game has been manipulated to become more graphically attractive, combined with its somewhat ridiculous story that will make you laugh a couple of times. It kind of gets you going when you see a huge rabbit standing in front of you and throwing colorful Easter eggs at you, or a really big Easter egg that is trying to kill you. Just remember to keep upgrading your weapons skills and your life will become whole lot easier…otherwise you will have lot of trouble getting through some levels, especially bosses. About the audio there isn’t much to tell, as besides the sound of your weapons and the audio that you hear on the end of each level (victory music) there isn’t anything else that could be distinguished.
