SheepArcade editor's review: Alchemy is an interesting mix of puzzle and strategy games in one great bundle. The game follows the ancient tradition of alchemists who were capable of transmuting lead to gold. It is your turn now to cover the entire playfield with magical runes. But you need to follow some basic principles when you place the runes. When you play game it involves placing similarly colored objects in columns or rows and making them disappear from the playing board. You have to place the runes next to tiles that are similar to them in shape or color. You are also free to throw away unwanted runes into the cauldron. But you have to be careful about not overheating the forge and getting cooked up yourself. There are helpful skulls that explode and blast off obstructions. You get to play plenty of levels of color matching puzzle fun and the difficulty level steadily increases as the game progresses. But for an avid puzzle gamer, the game would be a thrilling experience. Casual gamers can also successfully take on the challenges with a little practice and patience. The game offers two modes of play: strategic and time trial, both of which are engrossing and offers hours of entertainment. An interesting feature in the game is the level editor which helps you design your own custom levels so you practically get many more games for free. The visuals are nice and complement the theme of the game. The haunting background score by Skaven is excellent and perfectly in tune with the game settings. Overall it is a classic arcade games style entertainer with plenty of brain bending puzzle fun all along. |
