When you see a big-eyed taxi waiting to start its business to drive around customers, you can’t stop and wonder if this could be a joke? Well maybe not for kids, but every adult on the first sight would write it off and never have a look at it again, but that’s why reviews are there to prevent such things especially in this games case. In GabCab you are in control of Gabby, a good-natured taxi whose whole life consists of taking customers for a drive to their preferred place. The game is consisted out of 98 levels, separated into 8 different locations, and you will have on the beginning of the game only a couple of levels unlocked. To unlock additional levels you need to earn enough stars for the missions, that is the levels that are unlocked. You can win max four stars, for the time being, but after the whole gameplay has been finished you will have the opportunity to go over every level again to win the 5 star level ranks. The difference between the levels from before and the ones you will play for a second time is minimal. This feature is left there for the ones who ask from themselves perfection and max score on every level. The basic gameplay of the game is pretty simple. Gabby is there to transport people, from one place to another. You will be shown on your screen people who need transportation, and they will be marked with a balloon over their heads floating. In that balloon will be a picture of the place where the customer wants to go next. The customers can come up from anywhere, as there are different locations on the map you are currently looking at. You click on the customer, pick it up, and then drive him/her to the place where they want to. Gabby himself will choose the fastest and best route to take to get to that place. Like every car out there, Gabby also runs on gas. There will be a gas meter in front of you the whole time, and you better keep an eye on it. If you don’t watch on it and don’t refill it on time, you will deal with situation when you customers will lose their patience and you will have to manually refill the gas, instead of just stopping by to a gas station. There are different types of customers that you will encounter. The one with low patience but good tip is the Millionaire, on the other hand the old grandma, won’t complain almost at all, but you can’t expect a big tip from her. One of the many laugh-out-loud details is the Grease Monkey, who has a low patience and tips with gas. What kind of game would it be if it doesn’t have power-ups and upgrades? As for the power-ups, there are many of them in the game, and you can buy as much as your hearts contempt, but you will buy more likely as how you wallet goes deep… But that also doesn’t matter too much to, as there is a limited number of power-ups that can be used in a single level. Turbo speed will make Gabby drive faster for a short while, and the Hot Spot power-up will double the tips at a building of your choice. The Advertisement power-up changes the favorite location of all customers for a set period of time. Upgrades include better gas tanks, seats, engines, and tires, as well as particularly quirky helpers. The cartoon theme of the game fits well in the whole gameplay. The graphics in details, are done well enough for you to distinguish what are the driving destinations of the taxi, so you won’t have any problems there, but what you will definitely see after a while is that the new customers can sometimes blend to well in the background in which they are currently. But the most important thing that the players must be aware of, especially if they are testing the demo of the game, is that they won’t be satisfied with the game at all, as the first levels serve as introduction and you won’t feel almost any kind of difficulty in the game what will separate you from the game before it even begins, with its true core gameplay. All in all a great game to play, and to enjoy yourself in, but keep an eye on those first levels, as they can’t be skipped so get them through fast and start playing the real deal.
