Blood Oath is a hidden adventure game with a kick about vampires. Now most of us would automatically think here comes a vampire that has his ‘life’ sucked right out of him, and he will walk around just like a zombie, and we would get a really boring game, but this is something totally different. The vampires have changed through the time becoming more modern and they have adapted to the humans more and more so they can hunt them, destroy them but still keeping the their roots that made vampires long ago so recognizable like being dark, sensual and constantly struggling with humans. The game is full of twists and turns and challenging searches and an extremely interesting plot where the player is trying to figure out all the forgotten details. As for the graphics, they are done very good, suiting the dark atmosphere which describes vampires. Since the atmosphere is dark, when you reach a hotspot it shines red, which additionally suits the player while traveling between rooms to collect items. And the players don’t need to worry because the items are highlighted. So the game starts with you in a role of a vampire. You are a newbie at this as you are a newcomer to the rows of vampires, who has barely escaped the hunters with the help of a beautiful Kali Jayde, without explaining her interests in the situation. Then the leader of the most powerful clan of vampires comes into the picture. His name is Tristan Ariel and he offers shelter but also wants you to serve him in return. Tristan explains that there is a war between vampires and hunters and so he player will be a new soldier fighting against hunters in an old war. As much as this sounds great, the game is a dark story with the twist at the end, but don’t worry it’s going to be satisfying. Though it’s a hidden object game the player will find himself in the situation with little or no help where the mysteries of the game will slowly reveal itself. Though the mystery prevails in the gameplay, you will get a tutorial in the opening scene which fully explains features and mechanics of the game. The best thing about the game is that the game hides only a few objects at a time (you don’t have a list of the objects that need to be found, and is a bit tiring) and these objects must be found ad assembled into more important items which will move the story ahead. The player will have to search for items in a single room at the beginning of the game but as the game develops they’ll be in numerous locations and a bit more difficult to find but definitely more interesting. As a help part the player will get the indicators which will point you to the objects hidden in the current locations and so it will save you time on hopeless searching for items which aren’t there. You have to know that searches can’t begin without first discovering hotspots in each level which, as previously said, are highlighted in red. Each location has one to three hidden cards which are used in a separate parallel mini-game but grants player bonuses. There are 20 achievements to be collected throughout the game, and some of them will be awarded immediately and some must be earned. Now there are some tips which help you in the game like the fact that the hints are unlimited and click on the Ankh at the bottom right corner of the screen to use a hint. If you don’t know which room to go to, open the Map in your Book and click the hint button and it will show you the next location. The game has minor technical errors that could harm the game in any way, as the games story is so well processed you will enjoy it through the whole game especially with lots of turns and twists throughout the game. The best thing about all of this is that the end even if I finished the game, can’t tell you as it all depend on the decisions you have made throughout the game. The ending will change by your criteria and it is up to you to decide what do you want from this game to become… Will you resist the temptation and not feed on humans or your moral principles will drop and you won’t be able to resist the thrust that every vampire has implanted in his DNA.
