When you are born with special abilities as a kid you go through lots of things, but if you have the ability of seeing demons that walk on the Earth’s surface, then you know you won’t be having a very normal life. You will be playing the role of Garret Ghostfighter. He fights the demons and banishes them to their world, through exorcisms. Now all of what he has done has been questioned by one man, or at least that’s what he’s supposed to be. This game like every other game consists out of pros and cons, but unfortunately for us there might be more cons than pros, which had a bad effect on the game. As we are talking about a theme that is dark and spiritual, the kind of gothic look of the scenes in the game is very fitting for the gameplay. You will notice with every scene visited that it gets darker and more mysterious with shadows lurking around, and the fog appearing like it is preparing you for someone’s arrival. Black cats, spiders, whispers in the background, and even a few screams are thrown in just to make sure you understand that unnatural forces are working against you. When it comes to search the area of different hidden object games you are mostly sent on a goose chase for some items that have nothing to do with the game, as they are just set there to fill in the quota of items that need to be found. Similar starts to happen here, but when you start digging and searching through garbage and junk you would normally get pretty upset, but in this game that part has a very valid excuse. To be able to exorcise the demon from a certain area, you have to clean it from all evil items that are located in that area. The graphics of the game is drawn in most beautiful way, making the items you are looking for hidden very well. When you clean up an area you see on the list of items you are searching that there is the same item again. But this item only seems the same, but in fact it is different in many ways and spotting it won’t be easier, because you think you already found a similar one before. Certain items on your list will be shuttled to your inventory, so that you can use them to get at objects that require a bit of extra work before they can be found. When the search for items is done, and the list is clean you can then start your search for the special items in the game. Those items are mostly parts that unlock the doors and some other mechanisms in the game that allow you to move forward. These items are represented by charcoal drawings at the bottom of your screen, a lovely period-appropriate touch that genuinely adds to the ambience of the game. You can travel between the levels in the game using the footprints as a guide, or you can use the photos of the rooms you have to go there. You also have to be on the lookout for the pieces of letters torn apart by your mystery man Mephisto. You will use those pieces as clues to final puzzles that will open a path to new areas. The jigsaw itself is dead simple and will give you no trouble – it's actually finding the tiny shreds of the letter amongst the debris of your searches that's challenging. The game has lots of tricks that you need to watch out for during your gameplay. When solving a puzzle in the game, you will need for example to collect all the items from different rooms and areas to be able to finish it, but sometimes the game says that you have all that you need, even if you don’t. So watch not to spend your time losing your nerves over some puzzle in the game, just because the game said you have all the items necessary. When you are sure you cleaned all the places nearby, you can then start solving them, and see if you have all what you need. This game has lots of things going for it in the game, but also against it, you are really in confrontation whether you will play it or not. If you are a fan of HOG games, you at least need to try the demo, personally it takes a lot for me to like a hidden object game, so you better review you it yourself with the free demo.
