Puzzle games are starting to get around more often than we were used to seeing them, and this puzzle is something special. Everyone who is a fan of puzzle games has played Sudoku at least once in his/hers life, but this kind of Sudoku is something new! This is Sudoku on steroids, and it is looking great. Strimko by the new game company Braintonik, is their latest game and could be a kick for them in the right direction. They have come up with an interesting twist to Sudoku to make it more fun and more addictive. Normally Sudoku is played by filing the necessary number in the empty spaces in rows and columns without doubling the number. Strimko is different, because besides that you have lines which are connected between themselves in a zig-zag way so they become another kind of rows and columns. It’s a great idea that adds dimensions to the game play, especially as the grids increase in size Strimko has 2 play modes, Classical and Adventure or Story mode. The Adventure mode tells you a story and challenges you to help Luana save her dying planet. To do that the player has to solve puzzles and unlock magical amulets that will reassemble the Luana’s Astrolabe. The Classical mode in tiled in 4 other categories: Zen, Pawn, Fit and Tri. Zen mode is the straight-forward Sudoku type that is also the main mode of the game, because it is probably the most fun one. Pawn mode is slight replica of the Zen mode, with the main characteristics intact, but the difference is that you are entering the needed numbers through a drag and drop list on the right side of the screen. Fit takes this idea even further by requiring you to rotate and drag clusters of numbers onto the grid, and it all looks like some kind of jigsaw puzzle. The Tri game play mode is something special. It takes you to a whole new level of Sudoku playing. Instead of regular square-shaped grid, you are dealing with a triangle shaped grid. It sound pretty normal, and easy, but it’s a whole new dimension. If you are unsure if your answers are correct the game has a nice hint system, that after a while the game shows you the answer in one of the squares, or it darkness all of the right answers so you can focus on the incorrect ones. The Strimko’s graphics quality is something you can rely on very quickly. The background of the game is done in the Windows Aero style which makes the game even more tempting. One of the characteristics of this game that is quite rare in the game world totally is the sound. Throughout the game it’s not just some looping sound them that goes over and over again, but the game manufactures did a great job with a 60 minute sound recording of a nice tune, that has you relay all through the game. There a few minor glitches, like when it come whit on white background and it’s pretty hard to see what are you doing, but all in all this game has a potential to become a classic if a simple slight adjustments where to be made.
