Mr. Jones' Graveyard Shift

Game description:

Just when he thought he was ready to retire, Mr. Jones is getting back into business to win back the love of his life. It's not just any business however, because this is also his final shot at making it big and he's doing whatever it takes, even if it means working the graveyard shift! That's right, he's transforming his sprawling rustic property into a bustling cemetery empire worth millions and you are going to help him. Start with a shovel and some old tombstones then build up to a marble-clad festival of crypts. Expand into adjacent lots, decorate greenways, and erect statues in memory of the dearly departed. Use equipment upgrades like power saws and excavators to manage your empire more efficiently but beware, because if you don't pay attention to detail, you will have to deal with ghoulish ghosts, creepy zombies and whimpering widows!

Sheeparcade exclusive review:

For me graveyards are probably the most horrifying places on the whole world. There is nothing spookier then being on a graveyard, especially by night. Imagine walking besides the dead and all of sudden a dead man, actually a zombie rises and starts complaining!!!That sounds kind a funny and this game goes in that direction besides the obvious theme of the game. When you get into retirement, you mostly think about a nice and quiet place with a garden by your house, and that is it pretty much, but normally it means too that there is someone by your side to spend your life with. But Mr. Jones wasn’t that lucky, and his only companion is his faithful dog Kranky. But suddenly when he has given all hope, he receives a strange call which he didn’t expect. It was Mimi, his lost old love, and she said to him that she wants to get together again. She is now living in the Caribbean, and life isn’t cheap there. If he wants to move to her he needs to bring some cash with him, and by some cash she meant a lot of spending money for her shopping needs. Besides all the things she needs to be bought for, you will need to earn a million dollars or so, just in case, but you are in retirement, where could you get such amount of cash, especially as you are living in the middle of nowhere. After short but efficient thinking, you have a lot of land; you’re pretty much on an isolated area, a perfect place for a cemetery. The game starts in Mr. Jones' yard next to the empty field that will become the graveyard. Then the business starts. People will start coming for funeral services, and on the first levels, it will be mostly old and poor people, who want a humble and simple funerals. A little notification will come up as a car arrives, after which you will walk to the car and see what kind of funeral does the customer want. There are a couple of things you should know about arranging a deal with the customer, like: when you set a price for a grave, it can’t be charged more than agreed; if you want to give them everything they want, in most cases it will make you go in deficit, you could probably charge a bit of extra money if you put something extra by the grave, which they like, otherwise if they found something they didn’t want, you will get less money than agreed. Graves can be dug anywhere there's space, as near or far as you like. Clicking on the shovel gets you digging for the grave, and after which you will decide what decorations, flowers and tombstones you will set. The headstones range from pine board crosses to elaborate and expensive stone monuments. Flowers also come in a wide variety of types and prices. The other structures are a bit more varied and include items such as benches and fountains of different qualities as well as other items such as lamp posts. After everything is set, the only thing left is to engrave the dead man’s name and the funeral can begin. The coffin falls from the sky; the people arrive, and by the end of the funeral, talk to the man standing beside the hearse to collect your money. Clicking on the square with the dollar sign will move Mr. Jones to the customer to get paid. Your possibilities to design and arrange Mr. Jones Graveyard are nearly unlimited, and about the TM game part, you don’t have to worry about Mimi, because she can wait. The only ones who can’t wait are the dead people, because as soon you take a job, you must finish it in two day’s term. After the funeral is over you can then remove the items you used to decorate and make the graveyard, but that will directly result with zombie appearance. The dead won’t be pleased that you disturbed their eternal peace, and want their graves back like they used to be and that is the only way to get rid of them again. As for the gravesites you will have a couple of limited areas that you should keep for the cream de la cream. A grave with a tree growing above it, especially if it is near the gate, and making a walk way to the grave will make the price of the grave go sky high. A the end of the day, you decide will Mr. Jones stay and work all night, or will he go to bed and get some rest for tomorrow. If you enter his house, a window of Mimi’s needs shows up and you will decide how much money you want to send her for her needs. But be careful, sending too much money may cause you a lot of trouble. If you run out of money you won’t be able to buy all the material that you need for a funeral, and won’t be able to make more money than. All in all we are dealing with a great game, even though it has a bizarre theme for the gameplay, the graphics of the game will be something that you will get fond of, and the sounds, well you’re in a forest, and you live besides a graveyard, you know what kind of sound it will be. This game is something that we don’t see very often, and even though it sounds kind of creepy, the game is done in a funny direction making you have fun while you’re burying dead people.
