Don’t let the name fool you!  Magic Tea might sounds like a tame puzzle solving game, but it could not be further from the truth.  This is one of the best adaptations of the classic matching puzzle computer game genre, with an innovative and original twist.

Like all matching puzzle games, the objective of the game is to clear all the puzzle pieces from the board, by matching three of the same kind.  However, this is where the similarity ends for Magic Tea.  Instead, you are given the control of cannon, from which you have to aim and fire at strings of balls as they make their way around a winding circuit.  You must clear all the balls from the arena before they reach the end of the chain, or else you’ll have to start all over again.

The game offers three different playing modes.  In the Action mode, the cannon is positioned just below the camera, giving you a first person perspective of the game arena.  In Classic mode, the cannon is placed on the edge of the screen, giving you only a 2D perspective of the game arena.  Finally, in Arcade mode, the cannon is positioned under the game arena, giving you access to all areas of the game arena.  In addition, you can change the colour of the ball loaded into the cannon.  In all three game modes, you have to use your skills to aim your shots, plus use your ingenuity to target balls blocked by the obstacles.  There are also lots of power-ups to make the levels more interesting, as well as traps that you have to avoid hitting at all costs.

The graphics is fair, but not a main feature of the game, but the sound effects give Magic Tea almost a pinball game like atmosphere.  You’ll find yourself lost in the game play as you race against the clock to complete over 100 levels of incredibly addictive fun.

If you think that the matching puzzle genre is tired and boring, then you definitely haven’t tired Magic Tea yet!  Have a blast as you fire away at the balls, Magic Tea is awesome and exciting fun from morning to afternoon tea.
