Golden Trails - The New Western Rush

Game description:

Crafty outlaws have robbed the bank in the small town of Sunnyvale where Sheriff Jack is looking to spend some much needed time off. Never one to let sleeping dogs lie, he's all over it like a chicken on a June bug. Sure, there are suspects aplenty, but the Sheriff is going to have to dig real deep in order to solve this case. Step into the boots of Sheriff Jack and search in every nook and cranny to catch the bandit. Scour gold mines, wigwams, and dusty ranches to uncover clues to the heist. Question suspects, help citizens and solve fun puzzles. With unlockable modes, a gripping Wild West storyline, exciting shooting gallery mini-games, bonus challenges, trophies and other incredible bonus features, there are more surprises here than you can shake a stick at.

Sheeparcade exclusive review:

Something strange is happening is Somerville and it isn’t something good at all. A US Sheriff is going on a long vacation to Somerville, to a humble and ‘quite’ town and as he arrived he finds out why he is sent exactly to that town ‘to rest’. With his arrival a bank was just robbed and sees there no way for him to rest here. There are many strange things happening from the stolen gold, cowboy Joe's been cheated out of his ranch, a gunrunner's selling arms to the local tribes, and a young girl's being strong-armed into a marriage she doesn't want! But you have one objective and one only, and that is the bank robbery. We are dealing here with a straight-forward hidden object game. Your investigation will take you to several different towns and locations where each location includes several different areas to search, such as the local saloon, town square, and hotel. There will be some questioning of the locals but you won’t get some relevant information as the dialogues are pretty short. Skipping it is also an option. This system of searching items is pretty familiar with the HOG fans. You are given a picture of a wanted item, in the games interface, and you search but it’s not always the same as the picture. As you locate an object, its icon will disappear and be replaced by the next thing needing to be found. Items with a canvas-colored background are inventory items and frequently need a bit of extra to find. There are two ways communicating with the surroundings, besides the normal collection of items. The first one is when the cursor goes yellow. This tells you that you can zoom in the scene and search for additional items hidden in that scene. The blue pointer tells you that you will need an inventory item to get passed it, or to find item/s in that area. Inventory items disappear from your toolbar once they've been used, so you'll be finding plenty throughout the course of the game. Sometimes you will find yourself stuck, as you won’t have the appropriate item you need for that area. The game will notify you what object you have to look for so the backtracking in the game is not a problem at all, as there isn’t one almost at all. The game has additional mode, the Unlimited Play mode. This is yet another of the great characteristics in the game, but unlocking this mode requires a couple of conditions to be fulfilled, well actually just one. You need to collect 150 sheriff badges that either lie somewhere in the scenes, or in another case where you will collect them most, is in between the levels in the mini-games. Shoot as many bandits as you can within a minute and the more you take them down the more stars you will get (one star-one bandit). But bandits aren’t laying around the corners only in mini-games. You have to beware of them also in the hidden object search, as they will pop-out from time to time, and if you make it to shoot them, you will get and additional hint you can use in the gameplay. Hints are always needed, but in this game it’s better to use them, only if you have to. There are lots of trophies in the game that can be won. Winning an achievement for not using any hints during levels is just one of them. There are also achievements for the fastest hidden object hunters. From time to time you will discover some sparkle on the pointer, which signifies stolen goods. Collecting them gives you additional points that you can use for unlocking additional Secret Missions, as they too give trophies. This is a very interesting game, and very original in some parts of the game. In might not be the best of the best, but it will sure supply with hours of fun, you haven’t seen before.
