An interesting variation to the hidden object gameplay, the game is based on History Channel's overwhelmingly popular Monster Quest television program. This is from BigFish games and presents an unusual gameplay experience as you look for important information and go about finding objects in this fantastic hidden object puzzle game. You basically work on gathering clues from different objects to explain some paranormal visions.
You start the game by researching a particular sighting information and after carefully going through the accounts from various witnesses, set off on your task of finding objects. You travel to a particular location and then start investigating. The items that you need to find are generally relevant to the storyline and each of them hold relevant information on the creatures reported to be seen. There are a few light inventory puzzles as well which also adds to your case note diary. You might have to take shots of certain objects and take them with you for further testing.
You will have to go back to the mapp in the game quite often and interrogate witnesses for more information and also get to the next location. All your findings are recorded and the case notes are displayed in each scene for easy reference. Each quest has 10 different locations to explore and five witnesses to question. But a downside of the game is the option to save only at the end of the filedwork or labwork which is a major obstacle if you want to complete a quest in phases.
The story is intriguing and every scene is detailed and engrosses the gamer with a nice cohesion of clues and puzzles to solve. Once you gather enough evidence, there are mini games which involve lab testing of items you collect. You may assemble a jigsaw of a broken plaster casting, compare DNA structures, or review photographs for differences. At the end of each game the results indicate whether the reported sighting was a misunderstanding, a true observation or just a hoax. And this is not all. You need to pass a pop quiz on the monstrous creature you are researching on to proceed to the next locale.
The game has too much to read about and this aspect would sure test your patience. But an avid science enthusiast would definitely love the challenge and the brain bending puzzle setup of the game. The graphics are colorful and rich and the voice overs are pleasantly amusing which add nice touches to the gameplay all throughout.
