Pathstorm is an appealing puzzle solving game that guarantees to be a refreshing break from the ordinary tile-matching puzzle games. The concept of the game is quite simple: you have to trace the path of the ball from the entrance to the exit, uncovering the different twists and turns that the ball travels through to reach the exit.
There are three different modes of play available. Journey mode is basically an extended tutorial that teaches you the basics of game play, and as you advance through each part of the journey (as indicated by progress on a map), the difficult of the levels increase, and the puzzles become more and more challenging. There are over 130 levels for you to strain your brain over, which gives players a lot of fun free games to play. In Challenge mode, you race against the clock to uncover all the objects and paths on the board, as you try and better you time and score in over 60 levels. In Puzzle mode, you can generate a random puzzle based on a set of input parameters, and this feature gives a sense that you play free games over and over and each time it feels like a different game.
Pathstorm also manages to excel in the design elements of the game, by creating an eye-pleasing user interface and graphics, which is accentuated by the visually enticing special effects. One very attractive and special feature of this game is the use of sound effects to help you solve the puzzles. The various sound effects provide clues to the number of objects involved in the puzzle, and their particular interaction with the ball. In addition to the sound effects, the background music is also very pleasant and relaxing, but it might be something you won’t notice in Challenge mode, if you are trying to race the clock to complete the puzzles.
A very well-presented and slick game, that manages to be original without being too over the top. Everything seems to come together nicely to create an exciting and fascinating gaming experiences that taps into the creative side of puzzle addictive games.
