When it comes to picking out a theme for a game, there are those who are successful in that selection and those who are not. So what would be Abigail and the Kingdom of Fairs? Well to tell you the truth, neither. The games beginning, that is the story how it all begins is not so unknown for me at least. Throughout my reviewing time, I have come across many games and to be sincere there were couple of games that had almost an identical beginning like this one. This game begins when Abigail receives a book which she opened and ended up being trapped in a totally different realm, a magical one. Now, this beginning has been seen by my eyes a couple of times, and mostly they were all girls that received a strange book after some event, which after opening it caused a portal to open and take you to a whole different dimension. This being said you can presume that the game has been played a million times throughout some other games and there is no point of playing it again. There is an old saying: “Don’t rate a book by its covers”. This saying can be applied to this game as this game partially, as it takes a slightly different turn then the games that usually use this theme as their beginning. The first distinctive thing about this game is three different modes of game in which you can play. The main mode is the Adventure/Story mode, however besides it there is the Defender mode and Banker mode. Besides this, the game has been set in 50 different levels, to be more accurate in five different locations with 10 levels in each of them. Every location has its own monsters, tasks and surroundings which are characteristic and for that area. As for the two extra modes, well they are somewhat logical to what they have to offer. In Banker mode you need to collect more coins from the building that you have built, and the Defender mode is meant for those who really enjoy destroying those monsters in the Adventure mode, however they can do it here with a much larger number of foes and enjoy it in the process. Now because this is in a majority a building sim game, when it comes to building you would expect resources like gold, wood, metal, rock, food, etc… But in this game, a complete different material is used for these purposes, magic. You will build three different sorts of buildings - attractions, shops and functional structures - by hiring magicians and purchasing magic. The main goal of this game is to find a way so that Abigail can go back home, from this world to its own. To do that she needs help which she can only get from senior magicians who have that wisdom and that level of magic. Before you can return to your world, you first need to complete the tasks that have brought your to this magical kingdom. First of all you need to master some of the basic magical skills, but still you don’t believe in such things and think this is all just a dream, until a talking bat convinces you otherwise. So to get to where you want to go, you must do what you have been brought to do, and using magic you will build buildings, repair them and then after a while start upgrading them to a new level. While attractions such as juggler, castle of horrors or elephant provide revenue as well as smiles, shops for potions, herbal medicine, and books only offer income, though it is significantly higher than that of attractions. Functional building have special purposes and they require additional smiles if you intend to build them. They are made to be used corresponding to the type of building you have just built. For example the magic school will decrease the cost of the magicians you need for different intentions. You will be even in an opportunity to convert the monsters you are fighting and attract them to your side. This is the critical point in the game, as even if you don’t change them to your side, not deflecting them from attacking your buildings will have very bad consequences for your entire game. Another thing that you also must take good care of is the inventory of the game. The shops from which you are earing your money can overtime tart o lose on profit if you don’t supply them o time. Only those shops that have max supplies in them will produce the max profit of the shop. All in all a game made for the public masses to be out there and to find its own fans. The graphics of the game is done with somewhat cartoonish graphics, but unfortunately with how it seems some older styles of usage. The thing that will keep you interested is not in the games story, or is it in the visual and audio. That thing is inside the gameplay, and with its diverse content, it will make sure you get to feel how it is like to learn new magic, develop your skills and then start learning other those skills to, while still enhancing your own until the day you go home…
