For more than 1000 years, a wizard and his fairies have kept a watchful eye over the kingdom, protecting innocent villagers from the dark forces of an evil witch. The time has come however, for the wizard to find his replacement, and he has chosen you to impart the secrets of his knowledge. But can you wield your wand with skilled wizardry so that peace is maintained? Travel the enchanted woodlands and create fairies using lilies, fireflies and a bit of special magic. Release them into the villages to grant the townspeople's wishes and for their protection. Use helpful friends and charms as power-ups to help with the collecting or overcome any problems cast by the evil witch. To be a protector of an enchanted forest and all the nearby villages, you must have some seriously developed skills in the magical arts. But for those skills to be perfected and used in a right way takes decades of practice before you get a grip over all of them… A wise old wizardly hermit has been watching over the land for about 1000 thousand years, but he feels like his strength is fading away, and a successor must be found to replace him before he leaves this world. He has chosen you as his successor to follow his steps, but with the constant danger lurking from the woods and the forces of evil he can leave you behind untrained and unprepared. That’s why you set of on different quests where you will be trained through different challenges from which you will learn how to fight the evil and protect the village. An evil witch and her minions are constantly trying to get to the villagers and disable all of the good influence that the wizard has on the villagers. So far the wizard has done his job great, but now you must do so as well. The main source of your magic is fairies, but to get to the fairies you must collect fireflies. The story takes place in a magical swamp, where you must catch fireflies, with lilies. As it may seem simple, to catch a firefly you must catch it with a flower that matches his own color. If you catch it with a flower of a different color it won’t stay there, and it will run away. After you catch them you take them to a magical lantern and they will stay there until you need them. Catching the firefly with the right flower turns the firefly into a fairy. Stuff the poor fairy into the lantern and set about collecting more fireflies until you have filled your quota. It sounds pretty simple, but there will soon be natural obstacles to the collecting, things that will disable your flower or block your access to the fireflies. Fortunately, there are other fireflies which drop power-ups to aid you in your quest. The round is over when you have collected enough fairies to move on. Sometimes small frogs and lizards also bound their way onto your pads, and you have to clear them off with a quick mouse click or face having your lilies trampled. Then there are the giant, hungry toads that snatch wandering fireflies for a quick snack. As there are many obstacles that you must concur the game offers you a couple a power-ups and some friendly creatures help from the forest, like: summoning spiders that come from the top of your screen to help you protect your lilies and fireflies using their web as protection. There is also a couple of spells to summon more fireflies in order to make enough fairies to proceed if the nearby trees stop belching out fireflies. As you play, you’ll accrue stardust that can be used to buy upgrades your castle. Each upgrade helps you through the game play, like boosting up the fireflies patience and accelerating the recharge time for the spells. Crystal bonuses are awarded depending on how fast you finish a round against the clock. After capturing all those fairies you can then go to the village to help those villagers to fulfill their wishes and protect them from the evil witch. This is done by selecting the matching fairy container and clicking on different colored hearts that pop up over individual houses. But the witch will always try something to prevent that from happening and will use all the tricks she knows for you to fail. With 60 levels, 6 different ponds and 4 villages to protect, the length of Youda Fairy certainly gives good value for your buck, and the nice graphics and the fitting soundtrack ensures a very pleasant gameplay for the player.
