Sheeparcade exclusive review:

Time management was always a very challenging genre and full of excitement. Youda Survivor from Youda Games is something that almost every fan of casual games will recognize as soon as they see the game, less alone play it! A great prophecy was told from generation to generation about a man who will come to the island and rescue them from their hardship with the pirates that are constantly attacking them. The prophecy was telling about a man with great strength, almost unbeatable and brains that no one could outsmart him. One day a single man stranded on the beaches of that island, just when things where getting unbearable for the locals. The prophecy has fulfilled, at least everybody thought so… What was stranded on the beach was a skinny little man who was so much disorientated he was a complete mess… The chief of the village take a good look at him and the disappointment on his face was hard not to notice. But the threat was there and they had not time to waste and so the game starts. You are then located on the beginning of the game and your first mission. In the introduction of the review, I said the game will look very familiar to particular one game, and that is Farm Frenzy. The games interface is almost identical and the game, the way it is played, is remarkably familiar with the Farm Frenzy series. So to solve the matter straight away: Will you play an exact copy of the Farm Frenzy. The answer would be yes and no. Both of the answers are there because with almost identical copy of the game in the way it is played the additional features that are added to the game are something that Farm Frenzy need for some time. The FF series started to become monotonous, but Youda Survivor has directed that train on a whole different pair of rails. The first scenes of the game are identical to the ones of the FF series, as you have a large field in the center of the screen, and around are set different machines for processing goods. Ring a bell? Each stage begins in about the same way: tufts of grass in the sand. Dig holes where the grass is and the pit fills with water. Water attracts seagulls that periodically lay eggs. Pick up the eggs and you're ready to do some neat stuff. After you have collected your goods, you can then take them directly to production, that is to a final product or you can reproduce them into a more worthy product like eggs into boiled eggs and boiled eggs into powdered eggs. Besides eggs, there are coconuts that you need in the game. But why do you need them? Unlike FF, Youda Survivor goal isn’t collecting money, as the title of the game speaks for itself it is surviving. The means that drive the player are the energy and the hydration bar. What does this mean? The player consumes energy and water from his body to stay alive. If energy or hydration bar goes empty that means game over for you. To replenish that energy there are specific potions that you need to make so you can refill it back. This introduces a wave of strategies to the game, as you need to balance between the consumption of the energy and the weather affect on you. As you spend time exposed to the weather, the weather drains out the water out of you. Depending on the weather this can happen either very quickly or not at all, but, thankfully, there’s a potion to keep you from drying out. In FF there are such things, as there is grass that the animal feed but this is a complete other thing. This the point of the game where Farm Frenzy stops and the new features of the game take over. Other additions to the game are the power-ups or better special power that the player has to use and develops them as the game advances. When you have arrived to the island, the chief started to teach the villager’s customs and rituals that they used for themselves, in the hope they will help him defend them and get rid of the pirates but also the sea creatures that are attacking them. At the top right of the screen are a number of abilities you can perform. The first is a rain dance that makes it rain, filling in water holes and often sprouting new tufts of grass. This costs strength, and strength can only be refilled by brewing potions or by picking up random drops from enemies you defeat. Later abilities allow you to other impressive things, like summon coconuts with a strong air wave that throws it down on the ground. Another feature that reminds on the FF is the grading system. There are multiple rewards that you can win, from bronze to gold, and they all depend on the time you spend on reaching goals of the game like a certain energy level or making certain potions. Summarizing all of this together you get FF but with the enhancements that it really needed in the couple of last versions and some really classy features. The game is pure fun and you will experience it throughout the whole game.
