Lineage

Lineage, developed by a Korean team at NCSoft, was originally released in 1998 and is still going strong today. Lineage features 2D isometric-overhead graphics and, according to NCSoft, has had over 43 million players take part in the game. Game play is centered around a medieval castle siege system that enables owners to set tax rates and collect taxes on items purchased in stores within those cities. Character alignment largely determines how monsters and town guards react to the player's character, often turning hostile to chaotic players and attacking on sight.
