Raven Squad is a tactical action game set in the Amazonian jungles that blends a first person shooter (FPS) experience with the command and overview advantages of a tactical real-time strategy (RTS) with dominantly story driven objectives. The player can solve each tactical situation using his own combination of the two genres either by himself or cooperatively with a friend.

Atomic Motion's new game Raven Squad seems to be packed with an exciting design and quality production values. The game tries to bring two genres together namely the first person shooter and real time strategy. The game is set in the Amazonian Jungle. The story begins as a group of mercenaries set off on a mission to retrieve some important corporate data. Their aircraft is suddenly shot down and when they get back to consciousness they find themselves caught up in a sort of a civil war. But these people are determined to carry on with their quest and recover whatever possible. Thus ensues a first person shooting game and there are two groups of three soldiers that you can control. You would be managing these two groups as you play the game in first person view of a satellite view. As is true with first person shooters, you need to be pretty quick in order to be successful. There is also an option wherein, you lead the two groups along a map and let them do the needful. The two groups have their own set of specialized skills and weapons which can be used. There is a top down view which can give you the entire picture of the area you would wish to cover and the enemies that you would need to tackle. It is all about carrying out missions and combating with the AI. There is an option for co-op game play and you can have your friends playing along with you. The voice acting in the game is a little jerky and the missions that you tackle are quite linear and do not offer much of a challenging kick. There are twelve missions in total and you would have to complete these in order to finish up a campaign. The game had a great potential to be developed as a fantastic shooter game but somehow certain elements in the game play made it somewhat tacky and uninteresting.
