Robin Hood, the name itself says more than a thousand words. The legend, the myth, the reality, who knows if he was real or not, but legends like this just don’t stay this long in history written and still remembered without any signs of possible fading away in the past. Robin stayed and will stay a legend and a role model for many generations to come, about a hero who fought for the people. But the story got a bit shabby, as it is mentioned and used in every game with this theme in the same way, and people would imagine it is the same with this game too, as what’s a game without a good story? The game developers came up with an idea that took this old story and give it a new glance adding new adventures and new characters. In the rule of Prince John everything was going wrong, the taxes were getting bigger, people were more tormented and locked away, and all because one person gave the people hope of a bright future and soon return of the King of England, Richard the Lion Heart. Among those imprisoned people was a marriage couple. He and his wife were just waiting for a chance to escape, which happened, but only she could escape leaving him behind. With the sole purpose of freeing her beloved, Robin the heroines, joins the “Merry Men” of the Sherwood Forest. She fits in their plans to take down the evil prince John, but she only has in her mind saving her husband, but that’s about to change after a while, as she starts thinking on the greater good. Various villagers will ask Robin for help, but each quest basically boils down to the same goal: Find the ones who made off with the loot and get them to hand it over. To do that, Robin will have to scour different locations for the tools she'll need to overcome obstacles like guards or blocked staircases, or solve puzzles. As this is a part hidden object, but mostly adventure game, let’s talk about the HO part first. The game has a very original way in giving you directions and showing you what are you looking for in the game. It uses a card system in which you are shown only the top card, and the top card shows you the item you must search for. There will be some complicated searches, or better yet you won’t figure them out on the beginning, but mostly the searches will be quick and with no stress. As for the hint system, this will be probably the biggest surprise especially for the veterans of hidden object games. The game uses fireflies to pinpoint the direction in which you should go. Most surprising, but also a very beautiful hint, which originality will be hardly seen in other games. You can replenish the fireflies with their collecting as you encounter them in the woods. But even though Robin has improved in many ways, she can’t get all things done on her own. She needs the help of the Merry Men, as every single one of them has some special ability that she needs to get through certain obstacles. Robin herself is a pretty fine shot with a bow and arrow, but she'll need Friar Tuck to help her talk to the clergy, for example, and Little John to shove particularly heavy things out of the way. The rest of the work you’ll have to do all alone, until you got what you need and do what you needed to, and then you can rely on the help of the gang. There is also another quest that you need to think of during the game, and that is ripping the wanted posters of yourself, every single one of them. As you will be doing a lot of searching through the game, there will be a lot of small pieces of an item that need to be put together to put in use. To prevent frustration and meaningless searching with the players, the game gives and all clear sign when the room or area in which you are is finished. As for the situations when you need a special inventory item to finish a stage, it informs you too in those situations. Besides the hidden object the game is an adventure game too, and there will be situations like when you have to distract the guards to get through. You sneak around and hear the guards talking about pie and how they would like to eat one. That automatically leads you to the nearby kitchen and you start preparing the pie so you can move forward. There are additional quest and challenges in the game if you want to see a different side of Robin Hood era, like the competitions in accuracy, to find how good you are really with a bow and an arrow. All in all we have a game that will with its original story and amazing and various gameplay, satisfy many gamers and make them have a couple of great hours of gaming. The only thing that can we can have a grudge against the game is that the sound, that the voices of the characters are not up to level to the games rest features. But with those many pluses and that one minus, at least for me, it was enough not to let that small thing affect the rest of the game.
