The international scientist team has reportedly been called off the research mission that was targeted to find out whether there is life in the underground lake Ellsworth in Antarctica.
The researchers who were running the mission mentioned many setbacks, which include an effort to drilling the 1st bore hole. But the project hit the mission-ending roadblock after they were unable to connect the 2 boreholes they drilled.
The 13 million dollar venture, piloted by the British Antarctic Survey, was hoping to drill all the way through the 3km thick ice layer with water near-boiling temperature in order to get to the lake. The scientists believe that the lake has been cut off from the surface world for more than 500,000 years.
The team is now getting ready to head back to the United Kingdom with their equipment and there is no sign as to when they would try to resume the project.//TODO: Rijesiti rating i odkomentarisati ovo kad rijesim ?>
