First person shooting games have found many fans with this genre and the number of games with different stories, backgrounds, and other factors are now what really counts when it comes to delivering games that count. In nowadays market of games there are a couple of favorites that count as being evergreen of the game world, since it is founded. The talk about genres can go into many discussions but what is interesting to us is the attempt of the game manufacture to incorporate different features of different games to create a new way of gameplay.
Section 8 has used many of those features but the opening scene is quite unique for itself. After the game intro you are welcomed with a main menu screen where you will notice the game puts the accent on the multiplayer mode, using it as a main factor to promote the game. What was more interesting to me was the story mode as even though I have played similar games to this I was interested what the game has to offer. This is when that unique opening screen pops out, as you are launched from a space craft in a special suit that enhances your physical abilities greatly and gives you some additional features. Being my first I played in the medium difficulty and what was kind of a relief but in the same time disappointment is the fact that you can’t die… Well you can die, as you have your health and shield, but if you are shot down then you are re-launched from the ship again. I don’t know is the same for the hard mode too, but you just continue and engage battle again as your comrades are still fighting. Some of the skills that you are included in the suite are the overdrive run which lasts for approximately 10-15 sec and the possibility to jump high using jetpack. The game is played and mentioned to be as first person, but during the overdrive, the camera is changed to a third person for better control over your character. Another ability that will come equipped during the second mission is the repair tool to repair your health during combat. As for the weapons used during combat you will be able to carry two of them at the same time. The first mission starts with a middle range machine gun and a rocket launcher. Every weapon has its own weakness and their strengths. For example the machine gun is ideal the combat mode against the infantry, while rocket launcher is for heavy shielded targets like turrets and armor vehicles. If you are not satisfied with the equipment and weapons at your disposal during mission checkpoints you can switch your gear and modify the armor characteristic in different aspects with the help of a ‘shipment’ where you are healed if your health status wasn’t replenished by a team mate or by yourself. The game objectives change from mission to mission and any player captured by the game will stop for a minute and adjust your weapons and armor attributes to maximize the effect during the battle. The first mission is about hacking a complex and making it work for you instead for the enemy. The rest will be pure destruction of turrets and other stations. At the end of the level you will face an armor that is superior to you, especially in close combat so try to avoid any engagement true your suits superior maneuvering abilities. The multiplayer mode is a class for itself, especially if you are teaming up against other human-driven team. Those checkpoints, turrets and later vehicles that you will unlock will become a great improvement or great hindrance to you play, because of their flaws and advantages. Whether you're playing alone or with 31 of your closest friends, there are six guns and seven gadgets to choose from to create chaos on the battlefield that won’t leave you flat hearted by any chance.
Graphics and audio:
As for the graphics of the audio, the details excellent, effects are also not far behind, but the fact remains it is pretty much already seen in other similar games before. The attractive suits of the characters that leave very nice impression won’t even be noticed by players who have played games like Halo… The maps of the game are excellent from mine point to wide range battle in multiplayer mode with full teams, but in story mode it can get to wide at certain times. This great space in case of lacking players to play can be easily bypassed by engaging the entire group of players controlled by the AI, which will certainly deliver a worthy challenge for any player and providing you with a game that you won’t regret playing.
