Surface Pro from Microsoft packs a punch

Microsoft releases the successor of Surface RT…

The Surface Pro should have been the product that Microsoft used to debut to bear the flag of Windows 8. Much more robust than Microsoft’s Surface RT, which hasn’t got much of a response from the tablet market, the new Surface Pro carries out the pledge of the Windows 8: Your PC and your tablet - your entire digital life, really - all in one mobile device that you are capable of taking anywhere you want.

Surface Pro, the new tablet that is planned to hit the stores on 9th of February, is without doubt portable; however it is kind of chunkier than the other tablets, which falls under the same size class. Similar to the Surface RT model, the Surface Pro also has a 10.6 inch display, though it is clearly heavier (2 pounds against 1.5 pound RT) and a little bit thicker (Pro - 0.53 inches vs. RT - 0.37 inches). On the other hand, the additional bulkiness is all power: The Surface Pro has 4Gigabites of RAM, Intel Core i5 processor, and either 128GB ($999) or 64 ($899) of disk space, which puts it putting it in the “Ultrabooks” class. In other words, the new Surface Pro is a notebook that comes in the tablet form.

Surely, we have seen much variation on the PC-as-a-tablet concept ever since Windows 8 was launched. However, the new Surface Pro looks much more unique. This, finally, is the vision of Microsoft on how computing should be with the re-imagined Windows. The vision is persuasive: Your personal life and work combined in to a one device, which makes it minimalist as possible.
