The debut of multiplayer in Tropico 5 means you can finally inflict all these ideas upon your friends – whatever they may be! Will you forge a socialist utopia built on the love and support of your fellow friends? Or stamp out your cohorts one-by-one and rise above the ashes of the competition to rule as the only Presidente of Tropico? There’s a brand new Multiplayer trailer for Tropico 5 available to view now, so get watching and start plotting how you will achieve democratic harmony or island domination.

Ahead of the global release of the PC version of Tropico 5 on 23rd May, the Kalypso Media Group is thrilled to announce that the game has set new internal pre-sale records for the entire company. Not only has the title topped the Amazon pre-sale charts for many weeks in several countries, but Kalypso can also reveal that the Digital distribution pre-orders on Steam have exceeded expectations. Tropico 5 has achieved four times the number of orders secured over its predecessor Tropico 4, which was released in 2011.

“We have put great passion and almost all available resources into the development and marketing of Tropico 5 and the pre-sales success once again demonstrates the talent and ability of our great teams in Germany, the UK and the USA. We are constantly working to expand our franchises internationally and these figures for Tropico 5 are testament to this” commented Simon Hellwig, Global Managing Director of Kalypso Media.

Tropico 5 will be available for PC globally on 23rd of May (US retail 3rd June). Xbox 360® and Mac will be available this summer – with a version for the PlayStation®4 platform following in autumn.

The island of Tropico belongs to you, so let your whim take you wherever you like and make El Presidente proud! To celebrate the glorious return of our beloved ruler, Kalypso Media has also released a brand new trailer to mark the occasion. View it below for a look at how to start ruling like a true dictator.

Ridgewood, NJ – June 17, 2014 – Your ticket to sunny beaches and political corruption is now ready! After a delay in the production process, the boxed retail version of Tropico 5 for PC is now available at retailers across North America. Retail purchasers can now take control of the island paradise and become a magnanimous leader of the people, or impose the fierce grip of tyranny amongst the populace. As long as El Presidente’s legacy, and Swiss Bank account, is secure across the multiple eras of Tropico 5, the fate and future of Tropico are up to you!

As a special “thank you” from Kalypso Media and El Presidente, Kalypso Media today announced they are rewarding the North American retail community by providing the first DLC pack – ‘The Big Cheese’ – at no cost to those who have been patiently awaiting the North American retail version. ‘The Big Cheese’ DLC pack will automatically unlock at no charge once it becomes available this summer. To celebrate, Kalypso Media has created an updated launch trailer to mark the occasion. View the trailer below to glimpse the true glory of El Presidente, as well as see the fantastic responses from media who have already visited the island paradise of Tropico.

Do you know El Presidente’s only weakness? His penchant for a good, ripe cheese of course! While his exclusively imported French speciality cheese may bring some short lived satisfaction, El Presidente wants more! So he’s decided to open his very own artisan cheese factory in the first DLC pack for the hugely popular Tropico 5. ‘The Big Cheese’ DLC, available today, challenges players to create and promote an artisan cheese brand by introducing a new production chain with the Creamery: a new building that enables you to make the most of Tropico’s local goats and llamas. Face international competition in an epic quest to create the best cheese in the world and put on the chef’s hat! This add-on includes an all-new sandbox map and task, a standalone scenario including additional voiceovers, building, avatar accessory and music track!

Please Note: people who pre-purchased Tropico 5 via Steam will receive ‘The Big Cheese’ DLC for free as part of the pre-purchase tier reward bonus.
