After many months of speculations and rumors, Sony Computer Entertainment finally revealed what its next game console, the PlayStation 4, would be able to do, and the new controller that features a touchpad, light bar and a "share" button. As many expected, they revealed the information about the upcoming gadget in the “PlayStationMeeting 2013″ event held at the Manhattan Center in New York City, yesterday.
However, the PlayStation 4 console itself was absent from the launch party. And although Sony did not mention the price of the console, many expect it to be priced above $450.
The person who revealed information about the PS4 was the President and Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Andrew House. House officially made the announcement that the upcoming console will certainly be named as PlayStation 4 to the audience, projected to be in the millions, who were streaming the event to see the announcement.
The lead system architect of PS4, Mark Cerny, outlined some of the entrails that would be driving the console stating that the architecture they chose is more similar to a PC in a lot of ways.
The upcoming PlayStation 4 will include an 8 core X86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU, 8 GB system memory, a Blu-ray disk drive and the GPU will be AMD Radeon. It will also be able to connect with smartphones, enabling players to control the console via their smartphones.
